As a Counselor, I must produce the best lessons for my students and have them upheld to a certain standard. Being in my current position for as long as I have, I have found that the counseling department has not previously held a set of standards for our lessons to uphold. Many lessons try to meet the criteria that the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) has set out of our criteria for lessons. Some lessons are Modeled after the International School Counseling Association (ISCA) standards. While I think both are exceptional standards to work with, I think focusing on one is better than trying to combine. Therefore, after reading and thinking about what fits ISD, I have chosen to use the ISCA standard to help our international students be globally-minded. However, ISCA is updating its standards so I will be functioning off the old standards until the new ones become available.
